The Salzburger Heritage Day Festival is a day of thanksgiving with a service and program beginning 11:00 A.M. in the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, the oldest intact building (1769) in the State of Georgia. Prior to the thanksgiving service, join the procession of Salzburger descendants and friends as they walk through the settlement. As the procession enters the Church, hear the ringing of the “Oldest Bells in Georgia, dated 1740 and 1752”.

The Georgia Salzburger Society Heritage Day activities begin at 10:00 A.M.: tour the Salzburger Society Museum and learn more about the journey of the Salzburgers to Georgia; view the video of the “History of Ebenezer”; take a walking tour of the town; locate the site of the first protestant orphanage home in America; visit Ebenezer Cemetery and locate the earliest burial sites; visit in a Salzburger home built in 1755; stroll through the Salzburger Marktplatz as well as the Museum Gift Shoppe where one can find genealogy and history books, pictures, and many other items of interest. Georgia Salzburger family genealogical updates are available.

Throughout the day, craftsmen and women will be displaying Salzburger “Heritage”---from old tools used by the early settlers to crocheting, weaving, soap and candle making, and others skills. Numerous children activities are scheduled. Stop by the lemonade barrel and enjoy a refreshing drink.

A lunch will be served at 12 noon. Purchase tickets in advance for $10.00 per person through the Society Office, 2980 Ebenezer Road, Rincon, Georgia 31326.

We are unable to list everything that is scheduled, so join us and learn more about your family and the history of the great State of Georgia. You are encouraged to share your family information with others, as well as, dress in Salzburger Clothing. Printed programs will be available at the entrance of the grounds of Ebenezer.
